I have chosen to highlight Javier Solis for the month of February in the Houston Office. When I think about the company core values, one of the first individuals that come to mind is Javier Solis. Over the last three years that he has been with us, he has always proven to be reliable and dedicated to the company. Javier has been working at the VA hospital in the medical center for the past 9 months. He is in charge of the installation part of the nurse call system and is doing a great job. He also leaves us from time to time to fulfill his commitments to the military with the National Guard.
Javier was born in Galveston, Texas and he has lived in Houston Texas all of his life. He has two siblings, an older brother and a younger sister. Leaving for boot camp right after graduating high school in 2012, he was then stationed in California for four years. He remembers that while in California, he attended Coachella, which is a big annual event where different celebrities perform. He was there as Security with the Marine Corps and had the opportunity to meet Luke Bryan and Chanel West Coast from the MTV show "Ridiculousness." He remembers being bribed by someone to let them pass the checkpoint he was working. He denied $500.00 which was what was offered to him (I would of taken the money!), but being as dedicated to his job, he did not accept it.
The worst place Javier has been to is a military base in 29 Palms California. This place was in the middle of nowhere in the desert with dust everywhere, very hot and very cold. He described it as a horrible place to be.
Javier shared a story of when he attended a sports bar with his friends in Houston. He walked in and as he passed the entrance he was yanked by the security guard who asked him, “Where do you think you’re going? I need to see your I.D." Javier pulled out his wallet and showed him his ID which had a picture from when he was 20, so the security guard told him it was a fake I.D. and would not let him in. Javier then showed him his military ID and told him he was 25 years old and a Veteran. The security guard apologized and let him in. Javier has always looked younger than what he really is. A luxury we all wish we had.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I enjoy going to the shooting range. I got to shoot a 50 caliber and machine gun during the recent holiday.
Q: What would you do if you won the lotto?
A: I would pay off my debts, invest my money and retire.
Q: What is the worst you’ve been through while in the National Guard?
A: I lived the longest 5 seconds of my life when I was tased. They also made me write essays at one time, and I hate writing.
Q: What is on your bucket list?
A: Taking a long vacation someday.
Q: Are you married or do you have any children?
A: No, I am happily single.
